CONGRATULATIONS!

I know the legal system is a long and intimidating process, and I'm proud of what you've done for yourself. I'm proud of you for standing up for yourself.

Just concentrate on yourself now. You need to heal, and you need to love yourself.

it's so good to know you can write about your experience, and this forum is excellent for so many people, including yourself.

also i am so happy to know you were able to break away from your deep, chilling experiences while you were speaking to the lawyers, and you were able to convey exactly what he did. i hope anyone who reads your blog and takes their issue to court, can do the same.

abusers need to be punished.

The best weapon against abuse is education. Women, especially in the South Asian community tend to stay in an abusive relationship as they do not have the requisite confidence to make it on their own. Incidents of child abuse occur and are never reported because those children have never been taught the simple signs of abuse. The more we educate our family and our friends by speaking openly about incidents of abuse , the closer we are to solving some of these issues.

I wonder that out of that statistic that 30% of americans know a woman that is being abused, how many of them try to ignore it because it isnt their business? I think it is important that if anyone knows about incidences of abuse, they need to get involved in whatever way they can. An intervention is often the only way to save someone who cant save themselves.

Love has seen the picture clearly. Abuse is a pattern of behavior, a way of being. As such, getting out of it requires one to restructure their personality to be able to see how to respond and build a whole new set of life responses. Abuse is driven by control and domination over a weaker personality. Women are very vunerable especially when having children or grandchildren involved. Learing how to be a loving person in any culture requires people to learn how to be loving. Making anyone bow to culture is not loving, it is brainwashing and domination. Culture is a god. Cultures form like any animal norm and establish boundaries as the group sees fit to survive.

It has been great pleasure to read about your interview.I am living abroad.I am sorry to say that domestic violence here is also big problem among Bangladeshi community. There are resources and help available, but they are not taking advantage of it.They are rejecting as they think it is western law.I strongly believe many Bangladeshi women in western countries
are not aware of "what is domestic violence is", they do not know their rights at all. They are having a lot of health problem, emotional problem but they do not know that these problems are directly related to domestic violence.I wish I can help them but I do not know how, but at least.. I am confident that I can only help myself.
You have done a great job.

I think something overlooked is the most astonishing: love. Despite being treated so badly at their hands, a lot of victims really love their abusers and care about them. That is what unfortunately often blinds them to their circumstances and leads many victims to go back to their abusers. I think the hardest thing to realize is that someone who doesn't love you and give you the same amount of respect that you know and deserve isn't someone who is worthy of your love.
